Single Mother

In last 20 years a lot of things have changed. Today more and more women are becoming independent. They are more financially stable than they used to be in the past.

A single mother is a mother who takes care of one or more children without the help of the other biological parent.

In the 21st century being a single mother is a reality. Many women love to be single mothers. Earlier if a woman was a single mother then it is generally due to death of her partner. It was not due to choice or as a way of life chosen by the woman.

A woman who adopts a child or decides to have a baby knowing that she would be a single parent is a single mother by choice. Today more and more women prefer to be single mother. They are financially strong and stable and they do not want to get involve in relationship. Many times a financially strong woman adopts a girl child to educate her, to give love and support her to fulfill their desire of becoming a mother.

A mother may become a single mother due to reasons like divorce or death. In that case, such mothers are single mother by chance.

Whether a woman becomes a single mother by choice or chance it has its difficulties. Taking care of child can be an exhaustive task especially when the child is small. It has been found that children of single mothers sometimes have negative social behavior. According to a Swedish study children living with a single parent were three times more likely to kill themselves.

Single mother by choice should analyze all the situations before taking decision to choose this way of life. Single mother by chance should consider an option to live with their parents. If at all she is looking for a new partner to spend life with, she should discuss this with her child.

Parental care is not just about feeding a baby. It is about sharing love and emotions, to spend time with child, to satisfy all questions which arise in the children's mind.

Your Health is Directly Proportional to Your Baby’s Health

Pregnancy is the happiest phase in any women’s life. There is a lot of excitement associated with it. A woman has to prepare herself mentally, emotionally and physically. There are a lot of advises from all corners for the pregnant woman; what to do and what not to do included. One such advice is to follow a proper diet during pregnancy.

Eating healthy food is of prime importance during pregnancy. The food that the pregnant woman eats is responsible for the proper growth and development of the fetus. In other words, the fetus thrives on the food of the mother. Therefore, healthy food consumption during pregnancy becomes very important for the mother and the baby.

A study suggests that pregnant woman need 300 extra calories per day. During the first few months of pregnancy, a woman suffers from nausea, morning sickness, vomiting etc. These affect the hunger and can make it difficult to follow a proper diet.

Here are the few suggestions
•Stop smoking and consuming alcohol. Even intake of caffeine is not advisable as it has several bad effects on the fetus.
•Follow a proper diet regime in order to ensure that you are having balanced and healthy food. Food safety should be your primary concern.
•Experts usually suggest increasing the intake of certain vitamins and minerals such as folic acid and iron.
•Avoid having junk food because junk foods are low in nutrients and high in calories.
•Have a protein rich diet. Protein helps in cell growth and blood production.
•Carbohydrates are very necessary during pregnancy as it helps produce energy.

No doubt a special diet plan is very important during pregnancy, but with that it is very important to monitor your weight. Excessive weight gain is not advisable during pregnancy as it can lead to other complications.
